Dr Aida Vizcaya Guarin graduated from the School of Medicine Juan N Corpas in Colombia and has more than 45 years of clinical experience across Australia and Colombia. Throughout her career, Dr Guarin has worked across a diverse range of healthcare settings including general practice, emergency medicine, occupational health, women's health, paediatrics, and chronic disease management. This broad clinical experience has provided a strong foundation for her current focus on the care of older adults and the complex healthcare needs associated with ageing. Dr Guarin has a special interest in aged care medicine and is passionate about supporting older Australians to maintain their health, independence, dignity, and quality of life. She provides comprehensive and compassionate healthcare tailored to the unique needs of older adults, including: * Chronic disease management, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, and arthritis * Assessment and management of dementia, memory concerns, and cognitive impairment * Frailty assessment and management * Falls prevention and mobility concerns * Medication reviews and polypharmacy management * Mental health support, including depression and anxiety *Advance care planning and goals of care discussions *Palliative and end-of-life care *Support for residents with complex medical needs *Coordination of care across multiple healthcare providers Dr Guarin provides mobile medical services to residential aged care facilities, ensuring residents have convenient access to ongoing medical care within their familiar environment. Telehealth consultations are also available where clinically appropriate. Working alongside Nurse Practitioner Sandun Hathiringe, Dr Guarin collaborates closely with geriatricians, specialist physicians, hospital teams, pharmacists, allied health professionals, palliative care services, and aged care providers to ensure residents receive comprehensive assessment, treatment, and ongoing care. Nurse Practitioner Sandun Hathiringe brings extensive clinical experience and a strong commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of older adults. After completing a Master of Nurse Practitioner degree at Queensland University of Technology, Sandun developed advanced expertise in the assessment and management of complex health conditions commonly experienced by older people. He has a particular interest in gerontology and supporting healthy ageing through proactive, person-centred healthcare. Drawing on his extensive aged care experience, Sandun provides evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
